My dog has something stuck in his front pad. have bathed in salt water, got antibiotics from vet to help ?

clear up infection, was wondering if theres any type of remedy i could use to draw out whatever is in there, rather than have him go under general anaesthetic as vet suggested. any suggestions folks? My dog has something stuck in his front pad. have bathed in salt water, got antibiotics from vet to help ?
Your vet may be able to provide you with a poultice, which is something that you can wrap around the paw that may help draw the foreign object out. I haven't actually seen this be successful yet though, it depends if the wound has already started to heal around the point of entry.

If I were you I'd just let the vet sedate and get the thing out!

Warning! If this is a grass seed, you need to get after it asap. One of mine had one go in via the back of his mouth. THREE months later (yes, and hundreds of pounds later too) it came out - just under his ear. We had no idea what was going on - his head swelled up into a balloon, he was on steriods which was totally wrong and we darned nearly lost him from that treatment alone. Once the thing 'pointed' we could have it lanced and drained but before that it was a nightmare. So if you dog is showing that he has something in his front pad - please be warned, and ask your vet to do whatever's necessary to get it out. You may save yourself pounds if (should it indeed be a grass seed) the thing decides to go walkabouts in your dog. Good luck
One of my dogs got a small stick (about 3/4 of an inch) stuck in between his paw pads. You couldn't see the stick, but he couldn't put any weight on his paw. The vet couldn't find the problem, put him under, did an xray, and saw the stick. He got the stick out and it cost a hundred bucks or so. It wasn't major surgery and if YOUR dog has a stick in his paw, I can't believe you can get it out yourself without causing your dog a lot more problems. Let the vet do it. Please.
The infection won't go away as long as the foreign object is still in the skin - so your BEST bet is to have him sedated and the foreign object removed.

The longer the infection remains, the higher the chance for him to get really sick...will cost you less to do it now than if he gets really sick.
This needs removing by a Specialist.

It may be a grass awn, that if left will work it's way up the leg and cost you a fortune to have removed.

And more importantly unnecessary suffering to your dog.
It may be a grass seed, quite common this time of year.

I f left it will wiggle its way further into his paw.

Take him back to the vets for it to be removed.

My dog had to have this done.
Do not laugh!!!

Get some bread and soak in milk and stick it to the area where whatever is inside is, and wrap ot and over night see if it comes out. I have done this and it worked!
This time of year it is likely a grass seed. Have a good look, if not a vet will spot it.
try drawing salve available at the drugstore near you but the vet is likely right
i'm so sorry but i don't have any suggestions but i hope he gets better
can you not get it with tweezers or a needle because if you get a splinter that is what i use
Try one of those hot/cold gel packs that you can get from the chemist and use it quite hot on his pad. you may have to hold it on his pad for at least 20 minutes every couple of hours and it may draw the object out to the surface of his pad so you can use tweezers to pull it out.

This is what i do with my dog when he gets a thorn in his pad and it usually works well.
