Is it safe to immerse my whole head in salt water (during one of those therapeutic salt baths)?

Most of that depends on how much of a salt concentration is in there. If it's more than 3-5% solution, it could be enough to burn your eyes (depending on how sensitive your eyes are), but that will vary with each person. A 1% solution is the same concentration as your own tears, so that shouldn't bother most people at all. If you get a low concentration like that (which is a healthy level for skin), it shouldn't irritate your eyes, but the more salt there is, the more potential it has to burn your eyes and nose.
