Instead of buying ';bathing salt'; or ';bathing sand';; can you let a hamster roll around in baking soda?

Many sites recommend buying Chinchilla dust or bathing sand and letting hamsters roll around in it ocassionally. It is supposed to act as a deoderizer and absorb some of the dirt and oils from their coats. Instead of buying an expensive specialty product, can I just put some baking soda into a container and let the hamster roll around in that?Instead of buying ';bathing salt'; or ';bathing sand';; can you let a hamster roll around in baking soda?
no, baking soda contains chemicals that wouldn't be bath-friendly for your furry little friend, much too strong i think.Instead of buying ';bathing salt'; or ';bathing sand';; can you let a hamster roll around in baking soda?
